Supermarket fridges use around 1% of the UK’s entire electricity output!

Supermarket fridges use around 1% of the UK’s entire electricity output! That’s a massive amount and a huge proportion of that (around 30-60%) is used in refrigeration.

A big chunk (40%) of this could be saved by the simple act of putting doors on fridges. This issue has been on the radar for over a decade now. This begs the question of how long does it take to put some doors on fridges?? It really is one of the easier things we can do to cut climate emissions.

Shops say they won’t do it because they are worried customers don’t like opening and closing doors.

Please take a few minutes to write to all the supermarkets and tell them that this isn’t true and that they need to sort this situation out asap!

This little video will help explain.
