“We welcome the Climate Change Committee’s report. Urgent action is needed to reduce our emissions, but change must be done in a way that is fair on people, as well as the planet, so no one is left behind.

“We agree with the Committee that there should have been preparation to avoid the awful situation in Port Talbot, where thousands of job losses had an impact on the whole community.

“It’s important to learn from this, support the community, and make sure mistakes aren’t repeated.

“As well as shifting away from fossil fuels, we need to focus on solutions that save people money and create jobs in communities throughout Wales. Like better, reliable and cheaper public transport, and insulating our homes.

“We also need to reduce use of energy and water, waste less and buy better products that last.”

“Cutting emissions can also be an opportunity for Wales to become a healthier, more resilient and more equal nation.”
