Use rechargeable batteries

We aren’t talking about Lithium Ion batteries here, more the standard AA and AAA’s.

Recycle More estimates that in the UK, around 40,000 tonnes of portable batteries were sold in 2018, with only around 18,000 tonnes being recycled.

This equates to around 600 million individual batteries.

We are all used to charging up our mobile phones so why aren’t more of us using rechargeable batteries? They do cost more to start with but you can reuse them up to 1,000 times so you’ll be saving yourself an awful lot of money in the long run.

There are many environmental problems associated with batteries so opt for non-battery powered toys or torches for example or make the shift to using rechargeables.

Things we can do

Zero waste
