Plastic free periods

Of these, 1.3 billion are plastic tampon applicators with conventional tampons and pads being the fifth most common item found on Europe’s beaches.

Wen estimates that 90% of menstrual pads contain plastic and that 2 billion menstrual items are flushed down Britain’s toilets each year. 

There is also some concern about the presence of certain chemicals in menstrual products.
