Palm oil comes with a huge environmental and carbon footprint. TV naturalist Steve Backshall gives an interesting insight into the situation in Borneo in his BBC ‘Deadly 60’ programme (starts around 07.30mins in).

Chester Zoo have been very active in raising the profile of the issues around Palm Oil. Have a look at their website and maybe you could  consider working with others to start a local Palm Oil campaign or how about becoming a Sustainable Palm Oil Champion

Check your products for use of palm oil and start making changes from products that contain unsustainable oil to ones that contain sustainable oil.

WWF have a Palm Oil scorecard where you can check how your favourite major brands fare on sustainable palm oil. If you find they don’t score well, then write to them, email them, and encourage others on social media to do the same.
