As consumers we have the power to make choices that show support to those businesses and companies who act ethically and provide strong messages to those companies who need to change.

When we talk about finance and who we give our money to, many of the choices we make are every day purchases.

The Co-op have published a study on ethical consumer spending which reveals the total market – including food, drinks, clothing, energy and eco-travel – has grown from £11.2bn in 1999 to over £41.1bn per year in the UK. 

As we have highlighted in other sectors on these pages, there are all sorts of services and products we can purchase and support that will help us lessen our own carbon footprint whether it is through shopping locally (link to that info section) and supporting local producers or looking for the most ethical providers of other products.
