Clothing and textiles use a surprising amount of water in their production

The cotton grown for an average pair of jeans uses 15,000litres of water and for a t-shirt around 2,700 litres.  

Stacey Dooley presented a fascinating programme on the BBC looking into the clothing and textile industry including a look at how the Aral Sea has shrunk due to water abstraction for the cotton industry.
