Avoid certain foods

The amount of water needed to produce the food we eat is considerable, often surprisingly so.

It is estimated that 1kg of meat requires between 5,000 and 20,000 litres of water to produce whereas 1kg of wheat requires between 500 and 4,000 litres and 1kg of potatoes 287 litres. 

Cutting back on certain food stuffs can help reduce your overall water footprint.
