Eisteddfod Plastic Free future event

Four major national organisations are coming together during the 2018 Eisteddfod to show - in a fun, practical and impactful way - just how important it is that we reduce, recycle and reuse and that everyone, whatever your age or where you live, can make a difference.

Merched y Wawr, Urdd Gobaith Cymru, Mudiad Meithrin and Friends of the Earth Cymru invite you to their event ‘Plastic-free Future’.

Plastic pollution has been hitting the headlines on a daily basis since the Blue Planet documentary.

Too much waste – plastic and other materials – is finding its way into landfill sites, streets, rivers and seas, and damaging our environment.

Now four major national organisations are coming together for the first time during the Eisteddfod to show - in a fun, practical and impactful way - just how important it is that we reduce, recycle and reuse, not just when we are at home but when we are out and about at events like the Eisteddfod. And that everyone, whatever your age or where you live, can make a difference.

The National Eisteddfod have already shown leadership in announcing that they’re taking major steps to cut single-use plastic use on the maes, and banning single-use plastics by the 2019 Eisteddfod.

In the morning a litterpick is organised with Keep Wales Tidy around the Maes B site.

In the afternoon, Eisteddfod go-ers will have the opportunity to make useful objects out of old Tetrapacks such as purses and bird feeders at the Urdd stand.

When: Thursday, August 9th 2018.
Litterpick 10.30am – 11.30am; upcycling 2-4pm

Where: 10.30 - Meet at outside former Dr Who Experience building, Heol Porth Teigr, Cardiff CF10 4GA. 2pm onwards – Upcycling at Urdd Gobaith Cymru stand (S14)
