Become a plastic free sports club

An accreditation scheme from Friends of the Earth Cymru is helping sports clubs in Wales reduce single use plastic waste

Did you know that there are nearly 5,500 sports clubs in Wales and 23% of adults in Wales were a member of a sports club between 2016 and 2017?

Plastic pollution is a problem for sports clubs, as it is for all sectors.

Friends of the Earth Cymru's Plastic Free Sports Club accreditation scheme is helping the sporting community in Wales tackle plastic pollution head on, supporting them to make small changes to reduce single use plastic.

Reducing single use plastic is easier than you think! It's not about being 'plastic free' but taking steps to avoid unnecessary single use plastic.

Instead of single use plastic straws, plastic cutlery, polystyrene food packaging, pint glasses and coffee cups, introduce sustainable, reusable alternatives.

To find out more, please register for the Plastic Free Sports Club accreditation scheme and we'll be in touch.
